Collection: Pull Through & Threader Earrings

A lot of customers find pull through earrings very comfortable to wear, preferring them to studs or hoops. The lack of fastening means they sit more naturally in the piercing and the long chain and bar move around to draw attention to them. We have a large range of pull throughs in both Sterling Silver and 9ct Gold.

Pull Through & Threader Earrings - Your Questions Answered

What are pull through earrings? +

Pull through earrings — also called threader earrings — are a length of fine chain with a thin post at one end and a bar, charm or decorative element at the other. You thread the post through your piercing and let the chain hang to whatever length you like. There's no clasp or fastening, which means they sit naturally in the ear and many people find them more comfortable than studs or hoops.

How do I put in pull through earrings? +

Hold the earring by the post end and gently thread it through your piercing, just like you would with a stud. Once the post is through, pull the chain until the length hanging at the front and back of your ear looks how you want it. You can wear them with more chain showing at the front for a longer look, or pull them through further for something more subtle. If you have two piercings, some styles are long enough to loop through both.

Will pull through earrings fall out? +

They're designed to stay put. The weight of the bar or charm at one end keeps them balanced in your ear, and because the chain sits in the piercing with a slight natural grip, they don't slip out easily. That said, they can shift if you catch them on clothing or hair, so they're best suited to healed piercings where the hole is well established.

Can I sleep in pull through earrings? +

You can — many people find them comfortable enough to sleep in because there's no bulky fastening pressing against your head. Just be aware that the chain can shift or tangle a little overnight. If you'd rather keep them looking their best, popping them out before bed and storing them flat will help prevent any kinks in the chain.

What does Sterling Silver mean? +

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver - it is arguably the best composition of silver for jewellery making because it is a lot more durable and harder than pure silver, which is a very soft metal.

You may see .925 mentioned or stamped on some pieces, this refers to the 92.5% silver in the item.

The remaining 7.5% is usually made up of copper, zinc and other metals.

Can I return earrings? +

Yes - you can return earrings, however if they are unsealed we can only offer store credit. If they're sealed then we can give you a full refund. We offer 30 days returns on our products - see our returns policy

Can I get gift wrapping with my earrings? +

Yes - we offer two main levels of gift wrapping. In order to keep costs to you down, most of our earrings come in an envelope as standard. You can see this on the product page.

You can upgrade most earrings to come in a branded giftbox for a small fee.

You can also choose to add a branded giftbag, which comes with a polishing cloth at checkout. These can be combined together (box + giftbag) or used on their own.
