Sterling Silver Bangles

Every bangle in this collection is solid .925 sterling silver the whole way through, not plated. Our gold plated and rose gold plated bangles use sterling silver as the base metal with a layer of gold over the top, and you will find those in our full bangle range rather than here.

Bangle sizes are given as the internal diameter in millimetres, and in this collection they run from 38mm up to 71mm. To find yours, tuck your thumb into your palm as though you were putting a bangle on, measure right around the widest part of your hand with a tape measure or a strip of paper, then divide that measurement by 3.14 to get the diameter you need. If you fall between two sizes, a torque or adjustable style gives you more room to play with.

Our babies and children's bangles are specifically sized for smaller wrists. As a rough guide, bangles for newborns to toddlers typically have an internal diameter of around 45mm, while older children suit around 50–55mm. If you're unsure, a torque style is a safe bet - the opening means there's a bit more flexibility on fit.

A round bangle is a complete circle — you slide it over your hand to put it on. A torque bangle has an opening (sometimes called a cuff), so you can squeeze it gently to slip it onto your wrist. Torque bangles tend to be easier to get on and off and give a slightly more relaxed, modern look. Round bangles sit more uniformly and are the more traditional style.

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver - it is arguably the best composition of silver for jewellery making because it is a lot more durable and harder than pure silver, which is a very soft metal.

You may see .925 mentioned or stamped on some pieces, this refers to the 92.5% silver in the item.

The remaining 7.5% is usually made up of copper, zinc and other metals.

Tarnishing is a natural reaction between sterling silver and the air - it's not a fault. To slow it down, store your bangle in a sealed bag or your jewellery box when you're not wearing it, and avoid prolonged contact with perfume, moisturiser and water. If it does start to darken, a quick buff with a silver polishing cloth will bring it straight back.
