9ct White Gold Stud Earrings - Your Questions Answered

What is 9ct white gold? +

9ct white gold is real gold — it's made from the same 37.5% pure gold as yellow gold, but alloyed with white metals to give it a cool, silvery tone. It's a popular choice for people who love the look of silver but want the durability and value that comes with solid gold. Like all our 9ct gold, pieces over the required weight are hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office.

What's the difference between white gold and sterling silver? +

They look similar at first glance, but there are real differences. White gold is more durable, more resistant to tarnishing and holds its colour better over time. Sterling silver is softer and more affordable, but needs a bit more care to keep it looking its best. If you want a cool-toned metal that you can wear every day without worrying about upkeep, white gold is the way to go.

Will 9ct white gold stud earrings change colour? +

9ct white gold is very colour-stable — it won't tarnish or darken the way sterling silver can. Over time you might notice a very slight warmth to the tone, which is the natural gold showing through, but most people never notice a change at all. A wipe with a soft cloth after wearing will keep them bright.

Is 9ct gold real gold? +

Yes — 9ct gold is solid, real gold. It's made up of 37.5% pure gold alloyed with other metals for strength and durability, which is why you'll see the 375 stamp on some of our pieces. It's the most popular gold purity in the UK because it strikes the perfect balance between a beautiful gold colour and everyday wearability. All our gold that is over the required weight is hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office.

How are your stud earrings measured? +

Our studs are measured by their diameter - the distance from one side to the other of the actual stud part of the earring (excluding the pin and back). This gives a sense of the size of the stud in your ear.

See our Size Guide on the product page to see different size studs on a model to give an idea of what each size will look like

Are stud earrings good for first piercings? +

Stud earrings are one of the most popular choices for first-time piercings. They sit flat against the ear, won't snag on clothing or hair, and are comfortable to sleep in. We'd recommend waiting until your piercing is fully healed (typically 6–8 weeks for lobes) before switching from the jewellery your piercer fitted. Once healed, a small sterling silver stud is an ideal first pair.

Can I return earrings? +

Yes - you can return earrings, however if they are unsealed we can only offer store credit. If they're sealed then we can give you a full refund. We offer 30 days returns on our products - see our returns policy

Can I get gift wrapping with my earrings? +

Yes - we offer two main levels of gift wrapping. In order to keep costs to you down, most of our earrings come in an envelope as standard. You can see this on the product page.

You can upgrade most earrings to come in a branded giftbox for a small fee.

You can also choose to add a branded giftbag, which comes with a polishing cloth at checkout. These can be combined together (box + giftbag) or used on their own.
