Sterling Silver Chains - Your Questions Answered

What styles of sterling silver chain do you offer? +

We stock a wide range including curb, box, trace, rope, bead and more. Curb chains have interlocking flat links for a classic look, box chains have square links for a sleek modern finish, trace chains are fine and delicate, and bead chains are great for dog tags and pendants. Each style comes in a choice of lengths so you can find exactly the right one.

What lengths do your sterling silver chains come in? +

Most of our sterling silver chains are available in a choice of lengths, typically ranging from 16 to 22 inches. A 16-inch chain sits close to the neck like a choker, 18 inches falls just below the collarbone and is the most popular length for women, while 20–22 inches gives a longer drop that works well for layering or for men. You can select your preferred length on each product page, and there's a size guide there too if you're not sure which length is right for you.

Can I hang a pendant on a sterling silver chain? +

Yes — our sterling silver chains are designed to be worn on their own or paired with a pendant. Finer styles like box and trace chains are ideal for lightweight pendants and lockets, while curb and rope chains suit heavier pieces. Just make sure the pendant bail fits through the chain link — if you're unsure, the chain width is listed on each product page.

What does Sterling Silver mean? +

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver - it is arguably the best composition of silver for jewellery making because it is a lot more durable and harder than pure silver, which is a very soft metal.

You may see .925 mentioned or stamped on some pieces, this refers to the 92.5% silver in the item.

The remaining 7.5% is usually made up of copper, zinc and other metals.

Will sterling silver jewellery tarnish? +

It can, over time — tarnishing is a natural reaction between silver and the air, not a sign of poor quality. How quickly it happens depends on how you store and wear your pieces. Perfume, moisturiser, chlorine and salt water can all speed things up. The good news is that tarnishing is easy to reverse — a quick buff with a silver polishing cloth will bring your jewellery straight back to life.

How should I care for my sterling silver jewellery? +

Store your pieces in a sealed bag or jewellery box when you're not wearing them — exposure to air is what causes tarnishing. Put jewellery on after applying perfume and hand cream, not before. Remove pieces before swimming, cleaning, or exercising. A gentle wipe with a soft cloth after wearing goes a long way, and a silver polishing cloth will handle anything that's already darkened.

Can I return items to you if they don't fit or I don't like them? +

Of course, we offer 30 days returns on all our products, with the only exception being personalised or engraved items.

As these are custom and we're unable to sell them after they've been customised, we cannot accept returns of personalised or engraved items unless they are proved to be faulty
