Huggie earrings are small hoop earrings designed to sit snugly against your earlobe — they "hug" the ear, hence the name. They're typically thicker than standard hoops, with a hinged fastening that clicks shut for a secure, comfortable fit. Huggies are popular for everyday wear because they're lightweight, won't snag, and sit close enough to the ear that they're barely noticeable once you forget you're wearing them.

Huggies are technically a type of hoop, but they're smaller and sit much closer to the ear. Standard hoops hang below the earlobe and come in sizes up to 80mm, while huggies typically range from around 8mm to 15mm. Huggies also tend to be chunkier in profile, often with CZ crystals or textured designs, and they use a hinged click-shut fastening rather than a wire that threads through the ear.
